We review the country singer’s debut album!
BeX is the latest UK born singer to become a star of country music. Born on the Isle of Wight, the rising star is following in the footsteps of fellow Brit’s Ward Thomas, and The Shires by making a name for herself in the usually American dominated genre.
At the moment BeX is gearing up for the release of her debut album ‘Story So Far‘ which will be officially released on May 26th. For the LP BeX has teamed up with some amazing people, working with US producer/songwriter Alan Glass who has produced and written for megastars such as Aretha Franklin, Earth Wind & Fire, Delta Goodrem, George Benson and many more. And Renowned songwriter Amy Wadge who has written with the likes of Una Healy, and Ed Sheeran.
Here we review ‘Story So Far’.
The LP has an amazing pop heavy production with a fantastic authentic country twist similar to that of Lady Antebellum and Sheryl Crow, while BeX’s vocals are folksy with a pure country twang that makes you feel relaxed.
One of the standout tracks on the album is the very catchy ‘Time To Stop The Rain’ which showcases the more bouncy side to the country/pop singer. While ‘Howl At The Moon’ showcases her lyrical talents.
‘Whole Lotta Trouble’ is reminiscent of something you would hear Juliette Barne’s (HaydenPanettiere) sing on the hit TV drama Nashville. This song is without doubt the absolute best on the album and really showcases every side of BeX’s talents. From vocal, production to lyrical, ‘Whole Lotta Trouble’ is the one track you would play to someone who had never heard of BeX before.
The best ballad on the album is the beautiful ‘Home Again’ which allows BeX’s vocals to really soar and proves that she has a really sweet tone.
Overall the ‘Story So Far’ album is a really strong debut release from BeX and features some absolute gems.
RATING: 3.5/5.
