BeX special guest performance for the Skills Factor event at the BT tower London

Female singer songwriter BeX was the special guest for the 'Skills Factor'' event at the BT tower London in-front of an invited audience of around 150 people. The event was staged at the iconic venue for the first time and sponsored by BT Education, an event which everyone who was there will remember for a long time, this is what BeX had to say about the venue & event.

''It was a great day after meeting so many exciting and motivational young people, it was a privilege to be involved with them and listen to there business ideas & presentations, was wonderful'', I also asked BeX about her exclusive performance and now being in an exclusive club, this is what she had to say... ''What can I say, I really enjoyed performing for the audience, especially at the BT tower, not many artists have performed here, so I was very excited and honored to be asked to perform, it's one I will never forget''

The final saw six school teams, from across the country, present their idea, product or service in front of a panel of judges from the world of business. The teams had ten minutes to present their idea, followed by questions from the experts for the chance to be crowned winner of the 2014 Skills Factor.

TV Presenter and Entrepreneur Saira Khan hosted the event and she shared some valuable insights with the nominees. "You make your own luck, you make your own success, if you don't ask, you don't get!", she said. Saira also gave directions to budding entrepreneurs looking for finance to start-up, telling them "In business you have to negotiate, get sponsorship and use the community, especially when you have no money".

Kevin Smith, Chief Executive of Young Chamber UK said: "This year's event was the best yet, the standard of entries was exceptional and a huge thanks go to BT Education who supported the Skills Factor and provided such a stunning venue for this year's final, matching the standard of the competing school teams, who must all be congratulated for the high calibre of the submissions and presentations on the day".

Chris Thompson, Account Director, BT Education added "The submissions were inspirational. The confidence that they showed in standing up on stage and presenting to the judges was fantastic. They were all winners and we were blown away by the incredible presentations and ideas!"

The Winners of the Skills Factor 2014 was Wolstanton High School, Staffordshire with their project 'Little Helping Hands', created to introduce young children 5 to 7 years of age to the world of gardening. The judges said they had creative and original designs and a clear and memorable brand identity. They delivered an excellent presentation and had conducted good market research and had a well thought out business plan. The prize for the winning school was a glass trophy, certificates and £1,000 worth of Waterstones Vouchers.

The runners up this year were from Darwen Aldridge Academy, Lancashire. Their project 'Scent to Heaven' produced an innovative range of chocolate scented candles and bath products. The school won a glass trophy, certificates and £500 worth of Waterstones Vouchers. The final word of the day came from BeX, as I caught up with her at the end of the event as she was surrounded by the young people discussing music industry tips and advice, which was a great sight to see how she resonated with them. BeX said; ''I had a great day, listening to all the young people with their great idea's and inspiration, was a pleasure to see, I can't wait to get the young people involved in my projects over the coming months''.... it's all very exciting!!!
